Every flight is conducted by two highly experienced flight crew trained in patient handling and familiar with a wide range of destinations. We stipulate that our medical escorts have previous experience in critical care transfers and that they currently work in a hospital intensive care environment in order to join our team. They also undergo annual aero-medical training to ensure that they are up to date with latest medical transfer practice. CEGA has adopted the Intensive Care Society Standards of Practice.
From nursing-care through to critical-care we use the very latest aero-medical equipment. Our aircraft have specially adapted power supply units and enough oxygen for any length of journey. For transferring babies, we have on-board incubators manned by specialist Neonatal medical crews. Cega's aircraft are equipped with a specially designed stretcher lifting unit, ensuring secure (and horizontal) loading and unloading.
Patient safety is our main concern. We encourage incident reporting and have a dedicated Critical Care Specialist and a Medical Director to support our Critical Care Repatriation team. CEGA are an integral part of the NHS Wessex and Thames Valley Critical Care network. Our clinical record keeping is presented in the same format as that of the Critical Care Network, allowing us to participate in regional audit and quality control. We have a good working relationship with NHS intensive care units within our region.
From your initial enquiry to the moment the patient is delivered to the destination hospital, our operations team will ensure that you are kept fully up to date. Our team of linguists ensure that communication is never a barrier. When you call Cega for a quotation, we will give you a cost there and then. Planning starts immediately with medical calls to the treating hospital in advance of the flight. Once the patient has been confirmed fit to fly, arrangements are made with the destination hospital and ground transportation is put in place.
If your organisation requires an aircraft only where you supply the medical crews, we can charter you an aircraft with stretcher, oxygen and any other equipment required for your medical team. You can still gain access to our highly experienced flight crews, our unique patient loading system and Cega's operations team for any advice you may need.
Cega's unique combination of calm control, communication and care in difficult situations (with appropriate cost disciplines) is respected by insurance underwriters, who trust company staff to make arrangements in the best interests of all concerned. Our ground support consists of comprehensive medical, aviation and ground transportation contacts worldwide. We carry a home office drugs licence, ensuring the best available medicine is on hand, backed up by state-of-the-art aero-medical equipment.
As well as working with household name travel insurance companies and NHS organisations, Cega repatriate many private individuals every year who may not have travel insurance whilst abroad. If you find yourself needing help, please call the emergency hotline for a competitive quotation.
Cega are members of the Intensive Care Society and follow their up to date guidlines.
